Burwood East Special Developmental School and Burwood East Primary School co-operate in a specialised program for children who meet the criteria for inclusion in the Program for Students with Disabilities.

The intent of the Specialist Prep program is to provide structured learning in a small group situation with experienced special education staff in a primary school environment.  This program is generally intended to be for one year, after which the child would enter a mainstream, Special or Special Developmental School.

• Regular reports andevaluation of progress
• Liaison with other professionals such as speech pathologist, psychologist, physiotherapist and occupational therapist
• Computers and other electronic learning aids

Access to the Program

To access the specialist Prep program, your child requires a completed Educational Needs Questionnaire that identifies him or her as being eligible for the Program for Students with Disabilities through the categories of 'intellectual disability', 'autism spectrum disorder' or 'severe language disorder with critical educational needs'.
