Burwood East Primary School provides a comprehensive Visual Arts program with all students receiving access to specialist classes. Visual Arts has two dimensions:
Creating and Making
This dimension focuses on ideas, skills, techniques, processes and presentations. It is designed to develop creative thinking and expression, and to give students basic skills within the areas of painting, drawing, printmaking, ceramics, textiles and construction. Students are involved in designing and producing murals around the school that reflect their learning.
Exploring and Responding
This dimensions focuses on context, interpreting and responding, criticism and aesthetics. It involves analysing and developing understanding about one's own and other people's work.
Achievement in Art is celebrating through the display of student artwork around the school. The biannual Art Show is a popular community event, showcasing the wonderful creativity of our students and staff.
"Art is not what you see, but what you make others see."
