School Philosophy

Our Philosophy

Burwood East Primary School seeks to provide all students with a safe and supportive educational environment. We guide our students to be independent learners who participate, and contribute as global citizens.

Our Mission Statement

We continually strive to improve our knowledge of procedures and practices at Burwood East Primary School, so that every child has the opportunity to succeed.

The school values of Respect, Honesty, Responsibility, Confidence and Resilience sit at the centre of our work. The school believes in high expectations for all students and a commitment to hard work.

The programs of, and teaching in, the school will support and promote the principles and practices of Australian democracy including a commitment to:

  • An elected government.
  • The rule of law.
  • Equal rights for all before the law.
  • Freedom of religion.
  • Freedom of speech and association.
  • The values of openness and tolerance.

Statements which affirm the school’s principles are found in the vision of the school and in documents such as prospectus and handbooks.

Within our environment we value our core values:

  • Respect
  • Honesty
  • Responsibility
  • Confidence
  • Resilience
